Cardinal Lowend is the heaviest persona on NovelGrooves - a bass music project that spans drum and bass, dubstep, and hard dance, built on sub-bass that you feel before you hear.

The catalogue moves between two modes. On the energetic side: high-BPM drum and bass with serrated leads and breakbeat drums that don't slow down for anyone. On the heavier side: dubstep and grime with the kind of low-end that turns club PA's into weather events. The project name says it all - Cardinal Lowend is in the business of low frequencies, and treats them with the kind of attention more famous producers reserve for melodies.

What makes the Cardinal Lowend catalogue more than just a genre exercise is the writing underneath the bass. Eye of the Storm is a full album-length concept piece about storms - banshees wailing, tsunamis rising, lightning in the chest, driving through the rain on the way to somewhere worse. The DnB and bass tradition isn't always known for narrative coherence, but Cardinal Lowend treats every release as a small weather event with its own emotional shape.
