Kael Hope
Kael Hope is the instrumental side of NovelGrooves - the project where the writing happens with chords instead of words.
The catalogue moves between two registers. On one side, atmospheric instrumental sketches: short-form pieces that borrow from acid jazz, 2-step, downtempo electronica and chill-out, each one built like a small room you can step into and back out of. On the other side, full cinematic scores - compositions written as if they were already scoring a film that doesn't exist yet, with all the shape and pacing that implies. Strings, low brass, percussion that knows when to disappear, and themes that come back in altered form when you least expect them.
Kael Hope's work is the closest thing on the label to pure composition. There are no lyrics to hide behind, no hooks to lean on - just arrangement, dynamics and the willingness to leave space where space belongs. It's also where Lars Curfs's compositional muscle gets most directly exercised, the project where the question is never "what does the song say" but "what does the music itself want to do next."
A Kael Hope project by Lars Curfs.
